boils down to switches controlling loads. In the case of a boiler these are switches
that operate in a certain sequence and switches for safety.
On a boiler switches are used within the circuit so that if any one detects a
problem it opens and cuts power to the parts that fire the boiler. For instance there
is a temperature sensor. If the temperature exceeds the level the sensor is set at
the circuit opens and the boiler shuts down.
