Electrical Safety Tips and
Advice Pg 2

Use ceiling fan bulbs in fans. They are made to hold up against vibration
and last longer.

Never exceed manufacturer rated wattage for light bulbs in a fixture. If you
see no label don't exceed 60 watts.

Always look for a UL label on all electrical appliances. In recent years I
have noticed products coming from overseas or Canada that are not UL
listed.

Always use surge protected power strips for computers, TV's, VCR's,
DVD's and all your sensitive electronics.

On your computer, don't overlook protecting the telephone line with surge
protection.

If a circuit breaker trips you must turn it off until it clicks to reset it before
turning it back on. If it trips again call a Licensed electrician for service.

On a final note I can't stress enough how important it is for a qualified
person to do any electrical work. It takes approximately 10 years of field
experience before a person can even take an electrical license test. We are
also required to take yearly courses to stay up to date with the latest codes
which are always changing. A handyman is not an electrician, nor is a
general contractor or a carpenter or a plumber. They may know the basics
but sometimes that is just enough to be dangerous. Besides all that, is it
worth risking life and limb for you or your family to save a few dollars?
