As we said on page 1, you may in some cases have to notch around the studs
or joists. The ceiling or wall would look something like the illustration below.
When using the steel fish tape to pull the wire from point to point you may be
tempted sometimes to just tape the wire on. Here is some advice. If you just
spent twenty minutes trying to get a snake across a ceiling and you finally get it,
imagine how disappointed you will be when the wire falls off halfway through
pulling it. Below is an illustration of the way a wire should be attached to the
end of the steel fish tape.
And then it should be taped with electrical tape so it doesn't get snagged on
anything or come loose.
