TV in the Kitchen - How to install a TV in the kitchen? - Where to put the
cable box? - These are just some of the questions asked quite frequently
It is quite common today to installe a TV in the kitchen. With the average flat screen television
becoming very affordable, placing a TV on a wall has made it much easier to incorporate into a
kitchen plan. Below you will find information to help you decide how to install the TV.
One of the problems most often encountered is where to place the cable box for the TV. Another
is the wiring needed since most flat screens and cable boxes today are HD. The cable box can
be placed out of sight in most cases. With an item called an RF extender, you can still use your
remote to control the box. Here is an example of an RF extender.
This is one option. You can also purchase the type made specifically for your particular box.
Here you can find an example at Scientific Atlanta. These are made to plug into the box, so you
need to get the right one for your make and model.
If at all possible, you will want to keep the box close to the TV. The HDMI cable for your high
definition cable box to the TV can be rather expensive when you get beyond 15-20 ft. Some of the
places you can hide the cable box is on top of the cabinets if you have a crown molding or even in
a cabinet designed to hold it. Just be sure to plan ahead for the installation while the walls are
open so the proper wiring can be run. Below is an example of an HDMI cable.
